Podcast #3 – Miscarriage – Our Story

We chose to share our story with the intention of bringing more awareness and to provide help and support for others going through something similar. If only we had more resources and people sharing their experience with us we would have saved ourselves a lot of heart ache pain and loneliness. Unfortunately miscarriage is a bit of a taboo subject.
I won’t go into detail about our very long journey, but I encourage you to listen to our podcast if you want to hear my exact story. If you are someone who is gone or is going through your own journey with miscarriage I want you to know a few things. First of all, I’m so sorry. Miscarriages are awful and nothing that anyone can say will make it better. For people who have not experienced this, it’s impossible to understand the roller coaster ride of emotions, from pure elation and love to an extreme feeling of loss, emptiness and sadness. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. But there are some things that you can do to help you move forward and navigate through this very painful experience.
Reach out to People
The more you tell your story and be open about it the more people will share with you about their struggles. This can be incredibly difficult to do but very helpful when it comes to not feeling alone in it. Talk to a therapist that can help guide you through the painful feelings. Friends and family want to help but they often don’t know what to say, especially if they haven’t gone through it themselves.
Lean on Your Partner
This is the one person in your life that is going through the same loss you are. They may experience it differently but you can move forward together and be there for each other like no one else can.
Cocoon Yourself
This is the time. Just be gentle with yourself and do something relaxing during this period of grief. Eat ice cream and chocolate go out for a delicious dinner and have a glass of wine! Surround yourself with all the people in your life that make you happy and do not see anybody that brings you down or brings any form of negativity into your life. This is not the time for that!
Remind Yourself That There is Nothing Wrong With You!
It’s easy to think what did I do wrong? Is there something wrong with me? Will I ever be able to carry a baby and be a mom? Yup! I went through all of that. Believe it or not, miscarriage is very common! There is actually a greater chance of miscarriagethan not having a miscarriage. So stop beating yourself up!
Don’t Give UpIf I just decided to throw in the towel I wouldn’t have my two beautiful baby boys that I have now. If you want it bad enough you will be a mom one day someway somehow. Keep up the fight mama! I know it’s so hard to see the light but one day you will be on the other side of all of this.
Please feel free to share your stories or contact me through social media if you need to talk or have questions. I’m happy to help in any way I can.
